Here's another relic design attempt! This one complete with Guy Gardner for scale!

No Sketch Saturday next week, as I won't be home! I'll be at the Phoenix Comic Con in Arizona. I won't have lots of sketches this year... but I will have some cheap pages $20-40 dollars, some regular pages and Norms bringing some prints! I will be working so you'll be able to see how I do what I do!

Happy Sketch Saturday! This week, unused Relic...

Ah character designs and free time, just don't mix. I was asked to do a design for a new GL character called Relic. An alien from the universe before this one. He was a bit TOO alien for DC so this wasn't used. I still like it..

And here are the pencils for that Superman Unchained Alt cover I did! We had to blueline is so there is a penciled version and inked version. Norm has the inked one, I have the pencils:)

I will be posting sketches for character designs for this month as I got another crazy feat of penciling to pull off. Things should resume normally next month, you'll see why soon;)

Happy Sketch Saturday! This week an original character... we had pitched using him in Nightwing but was vetoed. Just as well, now I can do what I want with him!

And this is my redesign of Bronze Tiger. I don't know much but the people freaking out on the message boards are very funny and a little blind;)

OK, now to some other news! I will be very busy this month so I'm not sure about Sketch Saturdays. Helping out again on another book and finishing up this Nightwing issue plus I have a con to go to in Phoenix and I need to do some sketches for that... So if I do post stuff it will most likely be more things like Bronze Tiger and then any sketches I get done for the show!

Also, I'm talking to DC about maybe doing a sketchbook. So we'll see!

And the final version. This was a tough one. Because NW had just come out of a Joker story the Prankster needed to b different. The first version he's just a head with a robotic body, second was more mad scientist and the third... well, you'll just have to wait and see;)

Sorry about the no Sketch Saturday stuff. Got asked to help out on another book so my schedule isn't allowing for it. Maybe in another week, but I have 5 pages and a cover to do this week so don't hold your breath! But I'll have 2 books shipping next month so it's a good trade off right?!?!

Heh, taking a few weeks off SS to try and catch up on work. But they did release the second part of the Earth 2 #11 cover with Mr. Miracle on it so I thought I'd post the design I did for him. Unfortunately I also found out that Earth 2 #13 cover was my last one. Not too happy, but it was fun while it lasted.

Nightwing Promo image and Wolverine!

Something I did to sort of get a feel for my Nightwing run. We almost used it for the cover of NW19, but then they decided on the gatefolds so it sort of got scrapped.

And last weeks Sketch Saturday! Wolverine! Sale of this went to dinosaur research!

Next up pencils for May covers! Earth2, before they decided to axe the background... don't like the white.

The many faces of DR. FATE!!!

This is the original drawing, a bit busy, but I was trying to use many Egyptian mythology sources, from the flail and septor to the ankh and Eye of Ra. James wanted him to reflect Egypt, not just the ankh part of it.

Head, shot to show how the helmet works...

In his original colors.... It's a complex costume but I like this on the best still... got all the Egypt bits I wanted into the design...

DC was worried it might be too busy so it was trimmed down. The purists will shit a brick as they have already deemed the new design too busy. They want simple and it's funny I used his old giant undies as the base for the belt. Strange as Egyptian designs were intricate and beautiful. I think it's people own preference of simplicity that is the stumbling block. I like complexity, adds depth to things. Simple is fine but Fate is complex, ancient and otherworldly, he should reflect that.

And then tried it in grey....

And finally black.

I like the black better than the grey.... Was sad to loose the blue as it's the color of Egyptian royalty but the black does add a bit of spooky to him;)

After spending so much time in Gotham I decided to try a Marvel Now design... Jess says he looks like Racer X. I kinda like it... But it's very red... Also, did not sell right away...

Let's see. The new project should be announced in the next few weeks. I'm on page 20 of my first issue. Should be done tomorrow but I have a cover to finish up today. Been doing lots of designs and I even had to turn work down... if only I could have had an extra week!

Every year I try to do one, sometimes 2 (one for comics fans, one for dino fans.) So today at 8pm mountain time I will post it. SInce some people have inquired about buying it. It will be $800. The darn thing took me 9 hours to draw, it has 9 characters on it, and Jess asked if it was a cover so you know I went all out!

So if you're interested in buying it same rules apply as they do on Sketch Saturday, first come first served. But the one piece per month rule will be lifted as this isn't a SS piece everyone can try. If you just want to see it, I'll post it here and on Twitter:) I hadn't planned on selling it until I started getting requests....

If no one buys it I might make a print of ir for a show next year:)

Happy Sketch Saturday! Gotham's got snow!

Image 3 in my theme month of winter in Gotham. This week Nightwing. I wonder who Santa will have me draw next week;)

And then a quick Amazing Spiderman, from the new movie. The costume's a bit strange but it's kind of fun! I'm getting a spidey following on twitter so expect more of him.

In other news, working on the cover to my new project this weekend. It should be announced (FINALLY) the beginning of the new year, so I'm thrilled the Mayans' weren't right;P. Also got to do some cool character designs for DC this week! One is a favorite character of mine, and that's ALWAYS fun, cooler still he got approved! I'll also be doing some more covers for some other books, well at least one other for April, also with a character I did the redesign for!

All and all a good year. Now if I can get Dan to give me Wally end of next year or in 2014, everything will be perfect!

This Sunday, do you suck at your religion?

A very funny comic about the suckieness of religion.

I'm gonna do something I know I shouldn't, but I feel it needs to be addressed. What happened this week in Newton was horrible, words can't describe how horrible this is, just like what happend last week and again in Aurora. And I thinking talking about this is a good thing, get your anger out. My Twitter feed exploded and I had to stay off for most of the day. People are angry and lashing out. Lots of "Don't say his name, he wants the press!" and "Fuck you gun owners and your rights!" And of course the gun owners "It's my god given right to own a gun!"But it's good to vent and Twitter is a great place for it.

Unfortunately they also decided to take 'action'! Now action is good, we need people to get off their asses and make a difference. But this isn't really action, it's reaction, it's all feeling and outrage and no thought or introspection.

I own a gun/rifle. I've fired it like 3 times. It's not a big gun, but it does hold 9 shots. Why do I have it? Protection. WELL, you say, people are more likely to be shot than to be able to use that gun for protection! Fair enough. But I live 40 minutes from the nearest police station. Sure they can drive faser than I do on regular roads, but they will most likely crash as the roads aren't that great, they're all dirt... All 20 miles of them. So if something does happen, like say people come to rob us, or drug runners from Mexico show up, at least I have something, the police will always be too late. (A couple of grifters killed a guy out this way a few years ago, nobody knew for days.) I've actually thought of getting a shotgun and a handgun just to be sure a weapon can be gotten too easily, just in case.

So I'm being 'asked' by these people to simply give up my gun, my right. Would this have saved those kids in Newton? Maybe, maybe not. But am I willing to give up the safety of my family for it. No. But Brett, those were children! Yes and it's very, very sad all deaths are. But giving rights way is a slippery slope. Look at the Homeland Security laws that gave the government so much power over us, and our personal lives.

So what should be done? The Left will demand action so why not take this opportunity to really look at what we can do to mitigate further shootings, WITHOUT taking away peoples rights. What has happened here, really happened, facts, not crazy assumptions. Limiting shots to guns? Limiting ammo? Limit ful auto? I'm not sure, but whatever is decided, lets not doing it hysterically, lets do it with knowledge and thought. Not everyone lives in cities with easy access to police and help. Some people still live in rural areas where help might be hours away, should these people give up their only means of protection?

So to sum up, not everyone lives under the same conditions, calm down and think don't just react.
