Franky in the news!

Tomorrow is Frankenstein day! Or at least when issue #1 ships.

He's the first 5 pages on Newsarama.

You can see by the comments I'm not well liked;)

Brett

  1. I like Newsarama as a news site, but its message boards are a perfect example of comic book fandom at its worst. And I should know, because I'm a huge comics geek. :)

  2. LOL! I like to prod them a bit. It amuses me;)

I think they insult because no one calls them on it. So I call them on it;)

  3. It's comments like the one's on newsarama that make me embarrased to be a comic fan. First off i like the universal frankenstien as much as the next guy but come on. you are not drawing universals frankenstien your drawing dean koontz version. second if you don't like something at least give an informed opinion not some claptrapp about underware models. i'm sorry you have to deal with that kind of crapp brett. just know that all comic fans are not like those douchbags.

  4. As usual I tend to throw more gas on the fire than water, but the ridiculous comments which get made on Newsarama are unbelieavable. Handsome male heroes do not belong in comics? Brett seems to be one of the few artists who actually has loyal female fans. The Universal Frankenstein is fun, but not the definative appearance for the monster. I prefer Wrightson's creature the best, but that is not how Koontz describes him.

  5. They need a good poke Steve. Then at least it's fun! They usually shut up after you call them on their stupid remarks;)

  6. I am never surprised but how much junk they talk...I just ignore them and just make my own opinion, and unless someone asks me I keep it to myself. oh well.

Will get it today on my weekly trek to the comic store (I am such a herb)

  8. Nestor, Nothing wrong with being a geek!

Bry, that would be more appropriate for some of the other posts. For the record ID have been disproven by science. Evolution is a fact, it's time to move on:)If you want to chat more check out the other blog posts.

  11. I had to travel to a town with a decent toy store for work, so I got to go to an actual book store that carried comics. They had tons of Marvel and DC, a little Dark Horse, no Image and no dabel Bros. They had not even heard of the Frankenstein adaptation. I was bummed. I did notice they had my new book "Beasts!" and a new version of my dinosaur book "Thunder Lizards!" (both full of Brett Booth art goodness.)

  12. My personal favorite was the comment about Frank looking like he was stitched together from 20 - 30 underwear models. From a woman's perspective that definately doesn't suck ;)

  13. Well, I tried to throw in a little outrage on the board against all the negativity. It's just the vocal minority.

They do need a little prodding, I just hate that all the insults can be made from the safety of their parent's basement. For the most part, most of these people would kiss your ass if they were to have to confront you face to face. The fanboys that it, not the religious nutjobs ;)

  14. Steve,

I hit a comic store yesterday, no Frank. The comic sales were not great, the reorders are supposed to be pretty good but I don't anymore than that. I keep telling DB to just forget the comic books and just do the Graphic Novels.

Heather, any good looking comic guys are a no no for the regular boys, too gay for them;)

Jerry, they all remind me the comic guy from the Simpsons, worst episode ever!

    Best,

    Brett

  15. Do you keep your old art, or do you have a rep who sells it for you? That Frankenstein art looks great!

  17. I read the negative comments on newsarama and i say to hell with them.

I think Deucalion looks superb, perfectly envisioned imo. (yes i'm female hehe)

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on a copy ( whenever my localish Forbidden Planet gets some in that is)

  18. Hi Silma,

I actually like the negative stuff, it's sort of humbling and funny all at the same time:)

Glad you like Deucalion, I was one of the more interesting things about the book, the fact that he wasn't an ugly hulking monster, He's tall, but only 3 inches taller than me so he's not really that big. I like the break from tradition.:)

I have yet to see the issue myself, hopefully soon!

    Best,

    Brett
