Sweet. So that is yours. I snagged it the other day from Dalhouse' Deviant page. Thought it might have just been a nice fan coloring.
You ever do any model sheet of your characters, Brett? Would be nice to have some templates of your artist style to work from - front, back, side, etc.
Yeah, they are totally redundant but my 3D modelers need them which is why I've been hunting for templates all week. I hate drawing them. I can never get them even.
All I find on the net are stupid cartoon sheets. I've been using some of your body designs - not characters - as templates and that has really speeded things up.
You would think modelers could just work from character designs but man, they are whiny when they don't have their turnarounds :)
Sorry bout that. I know there are some old comic character designs from Marvel floating around the net. I've seen them, at least the old cowboy ones.
Cartoons and 3D stuff are the only mediums I know of that use the turnarounds. Your sort of given some space to do the costumes in your style a bit.
I did do a dinosaur trunaround years ago, that was a bitch to draw, for some 3D stuff. Not so much the drawing but the paleontologist refused to give me any information at all. Wait for the paper my ass! You can't say that and then when something is wrong on the design complain about it. Grrrr.
You misunderstood, I have not drawn any, except a dinosaur. These would be old, like 1980's designs. I've seen some on the net and a few were sent to me when I was working for Marvel.:)
@Baron, here is a link to those Marvel character sheets, plus several thousand more. They are old, like Brett said. Not much use to me but there is a lot of good artist ref pictures to be found.
And I second that last comment. I would love to see some of Brett's early pre fam work. The excitment, adventure and beauty of early Booth work...WOW!! :)
Chris, if you're looking for model sheets with turnarounds, google Alex Toth model sheets. There are lots of his stuff. Also try this: http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/index.htm Click on a name and on the bottom of each characters page are turnarounds. Hope this helps.
You are assuming that I actually keep stuff like that around, sorry I don't have anything that old. I've moved a bunch of times and things get lost. Plus I moved from Florida to California and only brought clothing. All that old stuff got tossed out. But I can say that alot of my Wildstorm stuff was based on older designs of mine. Including Backlash, most of Wildcore and some of the Warguard.
Also you're assuming I'd show that horrible stuff, and trust me it was horrible;)

Hi Christopher,
ReplyDeleteI just do the character designs. The model sheets seem sort of redundant to me after the designs are done.
Best,
Brett
RATS!

Sorry for the missunderstanding Brett.^^
ReplyDeleteSo have you eventually some proposal art, you sent to the comic companies before you start in the comic business?
To see how your intepretation of the comic characters was, before you went to be a professional artist.
Best,
Baron :)
