Comic-Kaze TM Fatboy73
Definition:A socially suicidal individual who visits comic book based websites as to bombard them with unsubstantiated
negative views in order to do a perceived damage upon certain individuals for no apparent reason other than pure spite.
Will this offend anyone with Japanese heritage? I know there is a drink named Kamikaze so I'm not sure if it's considered OK to use variations of it for fun.
Anyone?
Best!
Brett
Brilliant. Keep it. Screw offenses. This is pretty damn perfect. Great definition too.
ReplyDeleteI love that you don't care if professional archers are offended by not PERFECTLY drawing Green Arrow, but you're concerned about Japanese, or Japanese-Americans, being offended by this term.
My vote is for 'Morons.' Really, why do you think pros don't engage fans on message boards? It's like the bloody monkey house, so much shit is being flung. You think we want that in our mailbox?
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Brett makes his personal e-mail available to the public is a sign of his regard for his fans. Go right ahead, morons. Abuse that. I'm sure the people who do e-mail Brett with polite questions or comments and get replies will be thrilled when he stops answering them entirely.
It's always the minority, isn't it?
ReplyDeletelove that you don't care if professional archers are offended by not PERFECTLY drawing Green Arrow, but you're concerned about Japanese, or Japanese-Americans, being offended by this term.
ReplyDeleteThere's a BIG difference between not being concerned with offending someones hobby or even profession
as opposed to not wanting to offend someone by saying something directly linked to their race and heritage. :D
That being said I don't think anyone except maybe the ones being labeled as such would have a problem with the term "Comic-Kaze"
Kamikaze is originally the term for Japanese pilots in WWII that committed aerial suicide by flying their planes into Allied warships. In Japanese culture to die in battle is part of a longstanding honor code in the Japanese military dating back to ancient Samurai where loyalty and honor til death was regarded in high esteem.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that they later named a cocktail Kamikaze I think already shows even in Japanese culture has already created a variation for fun so you're ok.
And Comic-kaze is a great play on words and meaning making the analogy of a WWII pilot with a comic fan that commits social suicide by bombarding a site or blog to cause others damage.
The major difference here though, there is no honor code for Comic-Kazes.
Thanks for the history Mickey, I knew the first part, I just wasn't sure about the honor part!
ReplyDeleteOk then Comic -Kaze it is!
Thanks everyone!
Best,
Brett
