There is some debate to whether it is a tattoo or bar code? Btw, super stoked for the new title. I will be a first time (new) comic buyer and the new 52 has drawn me in.
WOW, the 2nd one is amazing, much much better than the ones on TT's cover. I actually like the 2nd one better than the tron superboy which i totally am going crazy over right now.
Glad to have you on board! And yes it IS a barcode. These are just some preliminary sketches.
S,
That second costume is almost the same as the one on the promo image. Just a few tweaks. Because the promo was never to be shown, and I was really tired from just finishing up JLA 57, I missed a few things.
Hey brett did the idea for the barcode come from watching dark angel, cause they had barcodes on the back of their necks? I think the barcode is cool,I like that it symbolizes that he is a "super",but also that he was created, not born, like a product at the store.
I kind of prefer the first one, as the second one, which is drawn really well, feels too much like an Abercrombie and Fitch advert. I think it is just the pose. I think the glasses would just get in the way if Superboy had to use his Laser vision and his hands were restrained.
Of those two, I prefer the first, although I don't know what he'd put in the leg pouches. (Snacks?) The second one isn't bad at all, though, but I'd prefer not to go back to the jacket or glasses/goggles. Those accessories would seem like a step backward, while the first costume is more of a progression from his current prelaunch look.
Have there been any images released of your version of the Tron outfit? The covers for Superboy so far have been...not to my taste.
I'm a little confused about what's going on with the costumes. Will he be wearing different costumes in Teen Titans and Superboy? Or will he be wearing the "Tron" costume in both, and not the sleeveless black shirt at all?
Brett, on Comic Bloc there's another take on the redesigns, compared with older Young Justice. It's a hoot. Seen it? http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86283
Best part is how he interpreted "thief" from the TT solicit.
Loving the second design, I grew up with Superboy being my favorite character in the 90's, and this costume seems to have a lot of nods to it (shades, jacket, and gloves) Hoping we can see a little more of that classic Kon, keep up the great work!
"To sum up 'Tron' badguy, regular clothes goodguy!"
It's kind of a shame that's the badguy outfit, since a lot of us seem to be looking forward to your take on it. But it ought to be considerably more stylish than the shirt with an "L" cut in it from the last time Superboy was a bad guy.
(But from the page of the nU Superboy that's been released, it looks like he'll be bald again. Bald = evil? That's...hairist, or something.)
AWESOME

I'll be doing the Tron one when he's in costume:)

tony,
ReplyDeleteNot that I know of. I misread an email about a tattoo, everyone seemed to like it and then either Bobbie or Katie suggested the bar code.
I never watched Dark Angel (our cable provider stopped carrying it for a bit.)
The first one is more in line with the current SB. I actually prefer the 'Tron' one myself;)
Best!

No images of my 'Tron' version yet. You might have to wait until the cover to #4 to see it since TT ships the end of next month.
ReplyDeleteBest!

ReplyDeleteHi Kevin,
ReplyDeleteFor awhile the Tron costume will be the one in TT. It's his 'bad guy' outfit. The other 'costumes' are just clothes he might were at some point.
To sum up 'Tron' badguy, regular clothes goodguy!
Best,

But why does nU Superboy have a slushie?
Heffison,
ReplyDeleteLOL! That is AWESOME! I like the slushie:) ANd the Kick me sign is funny as well!
Thanks for that!
Best,
Brett
