I hate December!

It's the worst month for comics as the printer shuts down for weeks, and so everything needs to be done sooner. I was just given the deadline for the Larfleeze project and let's just say I'll be eating, sleeping and drawing until the end of next week. This means I won't be able to play until then:( So, if you don't hear from me that's why. Back to work!

Brett

This Sunday, I want answers!

Via Pharyngula. Nice to see that turn the other cheek saying doesn't actually apply to these Christians. This is Hate Mail sent to Richard Dawkins, which he read an posted.

What is the one thing that Religion promises but never actually delivers?

Answers.

Oh they think they are giving you answers when you ask them questions, but they aren't. And of course if they can't answer it they pull out their trump card…. drum roll please….. "God works in mysterious ways." Or, their new favorite "we can't know the mind of God."

For me, the whole point of religion is to explain were we came from, to provide answers to all those why's floating in my head. Yet it never does. Why is the sky blue? God made it that way is NOT an answer (Light reflecting off the water in the atmosphere is;).) Why is the grass green? (Chlorophyll in the grass.)

Of course when this is told to a true believer (I may owe Stan Lee money now) they tell you that you simply don't understand Gods plan or how he works. AGH! Those aren't answers either! OK, explain it to me. Oh, you can't explain that either? Well where the hell do I get my fricken answers then?

This is my favorite 'answer' to that question. "One you join God in heaven, all will be explained!"…. WTF?!? How is that going to help me when I need help now? Who provided answers to the other questions I asked? (And answered.) What can tell me what I need to know?

Science.

Sure they don't have all the answers yet. But for the small amount of time science has been used, we've learned a lot. Were humans come from, how old our planet is, our universe.  Why this and why that. We can even use science to show how those pesky religions with their non answers are wrong! Of course the true believers ($$$here ya' go Stan!) refuse to except this, they'll use all the medications and happily play with all the benefits that science provides, but if it dips into their closely held beliefs then it's wrong!  It sounds something like this:

"Why is science wrong?"

"Because! "

'Because Why?"

"Because the eye is so complicated! it's perfect! It could only be designed!"

"Really? Then why do I have to were glasses? Why is there this huge blind spot? Why is the image upside down and my brain has to flip it over?"

"God works in mysterious ways."

Thank you! I'll be here all week!

Brett

Superman Batman #78

First page of my backup story.

Best,

Brett

Will YOU be picking up my JLA run?

Over on Comic Book Resources they have a poll in a thread about me 'taking over' (I don't consider 4 issues 'taking over' more like a long fill in) the JLA.

I wish I was able to post some of the art since the stuff they've been showing is fricken old ( X-men, and an OLD Batman commission, really?) Online polls are crap so, head on over and vote if you want, bashing me is ALWAYS fun to read so have at it!

I've been told Batman /Superman 78 shipped this week with my Huntress/Powergirl story. I'll see if I can find out for sure:)

This Sunday, the original sinners!

I don't want to really get into the 'gays' are evil dialogue again. But I saw this and had to post it:)

Anyways, on to the topic at hand, Original Sin! Basically because Adam and that evil, evil temptress Eve ate a fruit that God said they couldn't (for someone who 'created' humans he appears to not know them very well.) For this egregious act God tosses them out of the Garden of Eden and curses them to grow old and die. Ok, a bit over the top (well WAY over the top.) But why did god also punish ALL the other animals? Sounds kind of mean and over reactive, not something an omnipotent being would do, but what a pissed of parent would (at least for a bit, they would even eventually relent. You know, since they have compassion for their children.)

So now EVERYONE/THING  on the planet is cursed to die, T. rex's are now free to eat everyone (instead of the coconuts that the great Ken Ham tells us;)) But it's worse than that. All of Adam and Eve's descendants are now also cursed… WTF? We're being blamed for something we had no control of or knowledge of? How is this fair and just? All of this because a fruit might give the human knowledge? (I would say this is NOT the case for most humans;)) Come on! Seems like god wants people to be stupid and simply obey (I will not make the joke, I will not make the joke, I WILL NOT MAKE THE JOKE!) I have a hard time believing this guy is all powerful when he keeps doing stupid things like this. But I guess I got more of the original sin taint than others;)

Dear Anonymous:

Brett has been making a living in the comics industry for almost twenty years. He has three projects going with DC. His dinosaur illustrations have appeared in a scientific paper, a book, and on major news outlets this year.

I have a successful run on Anita Blake. My breeding program is going exactly where I want it to go. I've angered some members of the Saluki community so badly that they wrote me up in an international magazine.

And we're supposed to be bothered by a jealous coward who is literacy challenged (read the blog policy)?

Troll.

And your threats? We live in a Castle state. Bring it.

Love always,
Jess

SHAZAM! It's Captain Marvel!

A quickish sketch I did while watching TV. I have put some comment moderators in place. Once again an idiot child has ruined it for the rest of you. Now you see why we don't have kids;)

Brett

This Sunday is FLAMING!

So the truth comes out! Like all republicans of power, Jesus had a homosexual relationship and the whole 'god hates fags' thing is just an elaborate cover up! How ingenious!;)

Seriously, I have no idea were I got this but at least there's an email address!

I was going to put this up last week but I simply forgot! but I did want to talk a bit about this 'free will' crap. Free will isn't really free if you disobey someone and they kill you for it. Case and point:

Genesis 38:8-10 – “Then Judah said to Onan, ‘Lie with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother.’ But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother’s wife he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so he put him to death also.”

So because he used his free will to NOT impregnate his brother wife (the whole thing is kind of sleezy to me but I guess my human based morals are to blame.) He's killed for it. At least that's the usual interpretation.  (I get something else when I read it, I wouldn't kill him for it, but a beating... yeah.) So back to the free will thing. How is that really free will? Sure he had the ability to not do something in the story but he's KILLED for it by that ever loving god guy. The point of the story seems to be, yeah I gave you some free will but if you use it, I KILL YOU! Taking it away with threat of death. Ugh. How can people by into this stuff? It's like the worst soap opera I've ever read!

Of course that's the so called Christian 'scholars' version. I personally think this has NOTHING to do with that, and that he was killed for screwing his brothers wife for the fun of it and NOT impregnating (like he was supposed to) her so he could keep doing it. Of course I'm sort of surprised he didn't kill the wife as well since you have to figure she knew what Onan was doing. See, sleezy soap opera! And how those super crazy religious people get no masterbation out of this STILL baffles me. That's some fast talking!

Best!
