Is the Truth different on Sunday?

So, what is truth? I'm beginning to think that that word had different meaning for the religious and science minded. For the religious, the truth is the word of god as described in the bible. For the science minded, I like this one (the post is actually quite good as well):

"A scientific truth is more complex than a colloquial truth, it's requirements being that it is free of contradiction with logic and reality and supported by reason and evidence."

I keep hearing that (insert religion here) is true but time after time I am given no evidence, when I ask for it I get something on morals or the mind of god or lately MONKEYS and that evolution isn't true because some Creationist 'scientists' say so. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the circular reasoning I keep coming across. How can I accept that what these 'scientists' say when what their followers are saying has nothing to do with science and everything to do with faith? When everything they say goes against hundreds of years of research and understanding? I guess it all goes back to the truth, or biblical truth since they aren't the same thing. One sounds lovely... being special, having a soul, being loved. The other fighting tooth and nail to survive, adaption and evolving to find a place in the ever changing environment. One 'supported' by biblical truth the other by science and reason.

I was asked why I do this in a recent post, the person seemed to think that I must still believe in god or I would just sit quietly in the corner and I guess stare at the wall. I do this because someone has to. To sit by and let the religious 'right' take over and force their religion on other is bothersome in mind to say the least, here is one example and here's another. Sitting by and letting these things happen, letting this insanity go unchecked and unopposed to me is worse than being on the opposing side. By saying nothing, you condone them. And by letting them take over you run the risk of turning this country and others into another Uganda, where the church and its followers are now trying to pass laws to execute homosexuals and witches... Because the bible says so, these are biblical truths (you can go here for some of the details). Most Christians would be appalled by this, but by doing and saying nothing you've given them the green light, what's next Atheists and Wiccan? Hindus and Jews? What will it take to get you off your asses and tell people that this kid of thing is wrong? They are accusing children of being witches and killing them!

So, if the biblical truth is actually so very unlike the new Christian views with their Buddy Christ, than how can you keep telling me the bible is true if you don't actually follow it? That simple truth, to me speaks volumes.

And to end this weeks post a very interesting video on How to be a Good Creationist!

There you go M.O.R. I got it done on Sunday;)

Since I have yet to be given any evidence I went looking and I found this! Wow, I really hope his science teachers never see this, but I'm willing to bet he may have been home schooled;) If this is the evidence, I can't every take anything a creationists says seriously.

Batman and the Flash

Another part of that panel I tossed. I'm hoping to get on one of them there fancy Flash books after my JLA run (I'm counting the 7-8 issues as a run now;)) But I must say I do quite like drawing Supergirl and Batman.

JLA news

A reject image from 54, I liked Wonder Woman but hated the rest, so I redid the panel. UGH I hate when that happens. Anywho, it looks like I'll be on JLA through the summer, which is cool, so I guess you could say I'm the regular JLA artist for now.

Just thought you should know! And yes, that is the Hall of Justice in the background. I kept saying Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice while I was drawing this;)

JLA 54 preview

Read the comments, very funny. And for the record I'm not anti god, I'm anti religion. And it amuses me to no end that the person claiming my rants are "insipid and childish" is active on the DC boards, where they've now spent 17 pages arguing about the Tasmanian Devils 'return'. LOL!

Best!

Brett

UPDATE!: Go here for the details. To Passage34, I don't post on the DC boards, so since I know you read the blog, I'll answer things here. Anti religion means anti ALL gods, by saying anti God that sort of specifies Christianity, I'm an equal opportunity blasphemer;) I poke fun at religion to demonstrate the silliness of the topic. Perhaps if you were on the other side you would see the importance of people speaking out. You might not like it or agree with me but speaking out about such things is deathly important to the future of our species.

I'm guessing I wasn't quite clear, about the DC boards comment. The Taz stuff was more a general poke at the fandom and spending 17 pages complaining about something that wasn't true. I wasn't singling you out specifically about that, sorry if that wasn't clear. I was trying to make a point about the childish comment and participating on comic book boards, sort of a pot kettle black thing. I'm not usually that subtle, but I am sarcastic so I'd rather have a bit of fun than get all pissy. All I can say is check out the issues and see if we change your mind, James has gone out of his way to make these fun and he's wrapping up some plot threads he dropped in past issues and the JSA. I am making a prediction that Andrew Dalhouse will be very sick of the color green at the end of this!

Reading is apparently NOT fundamental.

The offending character from the Starman/ Congorilla special, the Tasmanian Devil.

I've been checking out reviews of the Starman/ Congorilla issue. And one of things I keep seeing, even here on the blog, is that people are either NOT reading the book, or they aren't comprehending what they are reading. It's crazy.

If you haven't read the issue STOP HERE, spoilers and such. You were warned.

For the record. The Tasmanian Devil was NOT, I repeat, NOT DEAD. He'd been skinned alive and the rest of him was kept in a stasis pod, this enabled him to talk to Malavar the gorilla and build a friendship… if he was dead this wouldn't have happened and the story wouldn't have taken place. There are literally pages of people complaining about this on the DC boards, like 11. Half of them appear to have not even read the story.  If you haven't read something or seen it, try not to make public statements until you do, makes you not look quite so bad;)

Also, complaining about this 'death' is not a review. I'm trying to gauge fan reaction and its difficult when everyone (or mostly everyone) is complaining about something that's not even in the story. If you're going to review things at least pay attention to what you're reviewing and review it!

I don't consider myself a great reader but damn people!

Most of the reviews based on the actual comic have been pretty good, except for the IGN one (and another but I can't remember which one,) that guy hates me, or maybe it's the 'Image' style (I haven't seen a review from the Every Day is Wednesday guy yet, but he like the IGN guy hates my stuff so it's hard to take seriously when they insult instead of trying to be objective.) I've heard that I make the necks too long… My torsos are too long, and that my people are too muscled. Fun, fun, fun!  I never heard the neck thing before, but I tend to like my character wiry so they aren't built like body builders (which might explain the neck thing) more like ripped dancers and athletes. I like for them to be able to move;) And I like my super humans to look, well super human;)

Shout out to the Ifanboy guy, thanks for actually reading the book! I'm glad you liked it.

Best!

Brett

Update: James has said he was indeed dead but I actually think he's messing with people;)

A few PowerGirl Huntress pages for Erica.

Penciled pages from Superman/ Batman 78.

To answer Erica's other questions:

I do use an art rep, but I haven't sent him these pages yet, so they are still here with me:) Email is brettbooth at gmail dot com. I am holding a page of this for someone right not (the one with the Huntress holding her arm.) But the rest are still available:)
I don't do many shows, and I don't usually so sketches when I go.

This Sunday: Question Nothing!

Fairly amusing:) Found here.

As Jess says, I'm slacking this week. Trying to get this issue of JLA wrapped up. I should have some new art to show this week as the JLA Congorilla/ Starman special ships on Wed.
