I'm no good at rank lists, and every time I try to list favorites, I find I leave off more than I list, so here are a few that I really like:

Blade Runner, Gattaca, Dark City, Children of Men, Brazil, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars (New Hope and Empire Strikes Back), The Thing...yeah, I'll just stop, but I'm sure there are plenty more.

2. Return of the Jedi
3. Star Wars
4. Aliens
5. Terminator
6. Bladerunner (you heard me Brett!)
7. Matrix
8. Predator
9. Godzilla (original Kong would top this, but is it really sci-fi?)
10.Terminator 2

Hi Dameyon,

Good too see you. Jess and I decided on a blog instead of doing a new site. It's just way easier for us:)

We've been back online for about a year:)

I have to ask, why the Revenge of the Sith? I just couldn't get into any of the new StarWars movies. In fact the Phantom Menace would rank in my 10 worst, just for the letdown, along with the last Matrix movie (which does not exist;))

I've never seen Dark City all the way through, they usually play it late at night, but it was interesting.

As for scifi and TV. Stargate Atlantis over Stargate SG-1...COME ON!;)

Alright here are my 10:

1. Stargate SG-1
2. X-Files
3. FireFly
4. Eureka
5. Freakylinks
6. Terminator S.C. Chronicles
7. Kyle XY (sometimes too much teen angst but the idea is cool.)
8. Buffy
9. Angel
10. Battlestar Galactica (new one)

And the new Flash Gordon get a bobbie prize for worst remake in history!

Krull...you guys crack me up!

My favorite bad movie would be Shark Attack 3 Megalodon!

Best,

Brett

9. AVP
10. Starship Troopers

Some notable series

Future is Wild

Hey Brett you seen my Dilophosaurus yet buddy ;D ?

Ha! How did I know it would be me that would be picked on? :P

Yes I like Revenge of the Sith the best of all 6 movies. Yes I like the new Star Wars better then the old…not Episode 1 though.

I am huge Star Wars fan no matter what and do love the original 3 sure, but frankly, I never liked the characters. Hans bores the hell out of me and is just a jerk. Leia I’ve always felt was useless beyond the plot point in the 1977 film, but did little more then fill up space in the last two. Even if you read the expanded universe books, neither of these characters seemed to go anywhere past the war. Luke, well he is cool regardless but I’ve would have liked to see him do more. He does a lot more later as the universe continues.

So why the new ones over the original? Simply because I love the Expanded Universe more. I’ve always enjoyed the Star Wars universe outside the movies more and I felt that the new movies expanded on that lore even more. Take the novels for example, how every post Episode 3 book has to almost always deals with the main cast and little else, which I’ve never been able to get into. I really have enjoyed the Clone Wars, the history that lead up to it and the fact that there are more Jedi’s. The politics and the hidden secrets tattered throughout the new movies is great, such how Yoda is partly to blame for the downfall of the Republic and nearly tried to pull the same crap on Luke, who thankfully was more intelligent and understanding of him self then his father was. That the Jedi weren’t so holy and just, that they craved power and control as much as the Sith, but did it with a smile on their face. So basically, I just think there was way more story to be told…and the ties to the downfall of the Roman Republic and the Rise of the Empire threaded throughout Episode 2 and 3 were great for someone such as my self that studies Roman history.

Were the characters as good in the new movies, no, but Obi-won who I never cared for in the original 3 films. I really got into him and his kind of detective stories in the new films. I can go on and on and know that most people wont agree with me, but needless to say, I totally enjoyed the end of the series (ep 3) more then any other film, namely because it closes a lot of door, answers a lot of questions, and opened the entire universe up even more.

Yes, Matrix movies are crap. The first one was so revolutionary and cutting edge and while it was generic story, it worked perfectly. The rest, well it took the two brothers 7 years to create the first movie, after that they had less time so I would have to say, that they really don’t have any talent, certainly haven’t proved it since, and lost all their focus on what was working the first time around and just feed us a crappy story that was total BS. I mean come on, how am I suppose to be happy at the end of the film when everything is just one big lie. You’ve haven’t won crap…your all still in the Matrix and it is more then likely just one big machine that rules over everyone including the machines sitting on the surface sipping oil laughing as he plays a video game.

And I never got into SG1. I like the show at times but for the most part I always felt like the show was a hamster running in a wheel. The plots just go on and on and on forever and O’Neil, he is just the same gag told for 8 years. I understood everything there was to know about that guy in the first season. I did get into SG1 in its last two years after Ben Browder and Claudia Black joined. Then the show got really fun and interesting for me. Teal’c is just awesome regardless and Carter always annoyed the hell out of me. I hate that she is on Atlantis…she just doesn’t fit. And the very nature of having a military officer in charge of a scientific expedition goes against what the show was suppose to be.

As for Atlantis, frankly I just find it more enjoyable to watch in all regards. So there ;p

LOL! I guess it depend on your age group. I was a kid when the first 3 Star Wars movies came out. Althought the lightsaber battle in the Sith movie was pretty cool. I just think Lucas is a bad director, plus he overdoes the FX, but that's just me.

I don't like the Bladerunner movie. It's all really subjective. I hated the new Transformers movie and Spidey 3. I'm more picky about what I expect from an A list movie.

I just can't get into Atlantis. I don't like Carter and LOVE Claudia Back, she's sooo sexy and her comic timing is great. I even tried to give Atlantis another chance but it just doesn't do it for me. I am a bit dissappointed you don't like O'Neil;) He was the fun guy (the Groudhog day episode is one of my favorite funny ones), although Ben Browder is quite good too. I would have been happy if they left Carter out, especially after Vala showed up:)

Best,

Brett

Well I am no kid. 28 years old. Return of the Jedi was the first movie I every saw and I've been in love with Star Wars ever since. I totally agree that Lucas is a bad director. I wish he had let someone else direct the movies.

I like Bladerunner but truthfully, I don't know why I put it up on my list. Its probably more like 12 to 15 on my list. I don't watch it all that much tbh...but I do love the visuals and I love Scott.

I hated Transformers too---Michael Bay should have his eyes plucked out so he can never direct again...the dude is a joke. As for Spider-Man, I hate all 3 of the films but 3 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen period. Come on, any movie that has a Spider-Dance should have been left on the floor. And Venom, man did they get him so wrong.

And sorry...I do like O'Neil, he was probably the reason I watched as much SG1 as I did. And season 7 and 8 were great as the main story arch were closing. I just got the character right away and did, like in Farscape, got annoyed with the same antics over and over.

And I used to hate Atlantis when it came out, but I gave it a second shot, mostly because i had nothing else to watch...so I guess the show grabbed me after that point.

KRULL deserves a remake. I wonder what that film would've been like with a more 'serious' budget.

While I liked Krull when I was a kid, I tried to watch it a few years ago....NOT GOOD! LOL! I would skip the remake unless it was on regular TV and I didn't have to pay for it.

Somethings just shouldn't be remade, like the new Knightrider, I'm sooo glad I missed that!

Brett

Any one got an extra copy on DVD;)

LOL! Thanks, I needed that!

Dear Brett as demonpuppy

I saw Your image, about spinosaur or other dino - was wonderful, simply amazing, and I saw draft Your White-throated black jaguar, and I ask You. Do You could creator in photoshop (create how new species of Carcharadontosaurus http://demonpuppy.deviantart.com/art/New-Carcharadontosaurus-77919621)
the image some legendary Highland Maned Wolf know from only One skull with 31 round and more than Maned WOlf and possilbe live in far hight peaks of Andes (collect by Ingo Krumbiegel).

I search internet and not come into begin the some image this very mysteriuos unknown species for zoology. Probably even exist two species canid from Andes: Andea wolf: possible related do culpeo or other foxes, and Highland Maned wolf more posible exist but not
recognized and described. Do You draft and paint in programms this animal. O would be very grateful if You could. I can famous Your name in zoologists and cryptozoologist in Cryptozoology etc.

The possible apearance Highland Maned wolf (not description? meybe Chrysocyon krumbiegli by my theory) should be:
-More longer fur than Maned wolf
-More longer tail
-Shorter limbs
-More lighter fur: possible not red but turquoise, white blue with gray "socks" on limbs and shorter muzzle and gray mane and more in size than common lowland Maned Wolf.

leads:
The animal in image show in surrounding Andes peaks and wind and frost behind.

Common Maned Wolf photos:

I gotta get in on this ten sci-fi movie thing. I really don't pay attention to genre, but I'll try to keep up. Ha.

1. Terminator 2. Has to be, hands down. I just really enjoyed that movie, and have ever since I first saw it.

2. Robocop! The first one, with all the hilarious commercials and the social commentary.

3. Otomo's AKIRA. The newer version, with the new English language track.

4. Ghost in the Shell.

5. The Abyss. I'm a sucker for Cameron's pre-Titanic flicks.

6. Aliens.

7. Alien. I'm a bigger fan of the second one than the first.

8. Jurassic Park. I used to watch this one all the time, about two or three times a week, before I went into a George Romero fit, and watched his zombie pictures for the span of about three years. Hehhhh.

9. Star Wars. I can't pick just one, 'cause I nitpick over all of them. I just enjoy the fantastical and often nonsensical nature of them.

10. Predator. Does that count as sci-fi? Not really sure.

Brett said...

Hi Thomas,

While I enjoy the whole cryptid thing, after doing research I don't think this animal exists. The skull has 'lost' as they always are, and the skins were DNA tested and were from domestic dogs. I'm not sure if you wanted an Anthro of this beastie or if you just wanted me to draw one? Either way I don't really have time for requests right now. If they find some more proof of it's existence then maybe but I won't have time for any fun drawings for quite awhile.

Best,

Brett

Brett said...

Hi Dameyon,

I'm guessing your a special FX guy;)

Why T2 and not the first? I'm just curious, I have both on DVD.

Predator is a scifi movie:) I do like it, Arnold is a great action star! I like his comedy's too:)

Best,

Brett

MadPowerBomber said...

I used to be a big effects fan, but now, I'm more partial to just take movies in as entertainment than anything else. Hehe.

T2 was better constructed, I thought. The first one has the same issues that I think were in the first Halloween, they made a lot of it up on the fly and just went with it. It's good, I love the picture, but the second one seems to have more going for it; especially the special edition. Plus I'm a huge fan of how whatshisname played the T-1000.

There's a lot of other pictures that I just couldn't think of. Still can't. I'm a huge fan of John Carpenter's the Thing, but I consider that to be horror, not science-fiction.

Predator is one of my favorite movies, period. I love the second one, too, but that got a bad reputation that I don't understand. At some point, I started watching movies for the bad guys/creatures and not the "heroes" of the pictures. Haha.

Brett said...

I'd have to disagree, I've seen both in last few months and while T2 is slicker and Robert Patrick is a better more robotic Terminator. The first was the better movie. There are things in the second that don't quite sinc with the first. Plus that kid is always yelling?! I like Linda Hamilton more in #2 but I think a lot has to do with the budget they only spent 4 million on the first one. Plus when the terminator looses all his skin and is chasing them with that limp, I love that little detail! Plus it has the best, most realistic sex scene I've ever seen in a movie.

The Second Predator, while interesting, is not that great. It might be the directing but it all seemed like more of a joke to everyone, something is just not right. Although the Alien head at the end was just the coolest thing!

Of course these are just my opinions and I've seen that I don't always like the norm so I may be the odd man out:)

Marcus Hooker said...

I have a lot of favorite Sci Fi movies and it's hard to pick which ones I like the best. I could easily pick my favorite Sci Fi tv show though. Doctor Who is by far my favorite show or all time.

Brett said...

Marcus,

I could never get into the good Doctor. Ad while I love Catherine Tate's comedy, it's not enough to get me too watch. I think it might be visions of the older Doctors that's doing it. Have you seen Primevil? That is a great show, I'm so glad they finally ran it in the US!

I've been watching Sanctuary on Scifi, it's a fun show, not super great but it's fun:)

Best,

Brett
