This Sunday, 46% is the new minority!

So a new poll (a scientific one, not the usual internet ones that people crash;)) And it looks like all the people who keep telling me that Creationists are really just a SMALL fraction of the Christian population in the US are WRONG. It looks like 46% of AMERICANS are YEC. That's not a small part, OR a minority, that's almost HALF of the population. Scary indeed.

The other stats are, 32% believe in god guided evolution and then there are the people like me, who believe it was all random chance coming in at 15%.

Can you see now, why I do these Sunday Blasphemy posts? The god guided stuff isn't actually supported by evidence, that's more seeing that there is something to evolution but refusing to give up the good feeling of your religion. It's incredibly frustrating and a bit scary. Because that 46% can make way more religious people faster than the non religious people, we tend to have small families or none at all. Luckily there is that 3rd part of government that will protect the rights of the minority group.

There is a glimmer of hope, the 15% group seems to be on an upward trend... albeit a very SLOW one. In 300 years we might be 80%! Then you Christians better watch out cause we'll simply ignore you and make fun of you. You can keep your religion, we won't try to take it from you by making it illegal. It will still be a secular society.

 On another note;

I'm still waiting for Steve to post about why it's OK for people to be adhere to certain parts of the Bible yet completely ignore others... So Far I've been told my 'tone' isn't good and that I'm not up for a discussion on the matter. I've of course deleted those comments, just more dodging the question nonsense. He's not allowed to comment until he answers the questions. I wonder how it feels to have deity who doesn't agree with all your ideas as we all know I'm god here.

So in honor of Steve I have a video for you;)

This Sunday, Cheek biting.

Found here. Quite funny, and I thought M.O.R. might like it;)

Blog post about those 'sophisticated theologians.' I don't think people know what logic actually means anymore.

Some more with Dara Ó Briain, this time about science!

And remember, everytime you see a rainbow, it means god won't kill everything on the planet, including helpless animals, children and the elderly... AGAIN. That better Steve, LESS offensive?

This Sunday, We're FREE!!!

Damn it! Now that would have been heaven;)

Found here!

All kidding aside, this was put up outside a Church: I've actually had people say this to me in the comments of some posts. What's really funny is that they think this is some kind of win. Well how about if dogs evolved from wolves why are there still wolves...? well because the entire population of wolves didn't evolve into dogs, a small isolated portion did. It's not hard. And of course the sign is wrong because humans (women included!) evolved from APES... In fact humans are a TYPE of APE. We did not evolve from Chimps, we share a common ancestor, one that did not use their knuckles for walking. We know this because fossils from that time that are thought o be related to both groups did not have a specific bone in the wrist. Which means that Chimps and Gorillas evolved the knuckle walking separately. It's called convergent evolution:)

You see what happens, is an animal splits into 2 different animals, they usually continue to interbreed occasionally like diamond pythons and carpet pythons, until they finally split for good. Then BOTH groups continue to evolve, in the case of humans one into us and then the other into Chimps. Evolution doesn't just stop. The monkeys around now are not the same monkeys that apes evolved from, these are the monkey that evolved from those monkeys. Once you figure this out maybe the signs will get better or at least be more accurate. This just shows that religion doesn't really know much about science. Oh, and their 1 is crooked.

But lets end on a fun note! Singing!

This Sunday... I'm so very sorry...

For making you watch that.... it still hurts.. I thought love of God inspired some great music and art...? This is SO no the case here. I'm beginning to think that maybe those musician and artists were great all on there own. What's that you say, he's just a kid? Well so was Beethoven when he started;)

This Sunday: Losing My Religion... Gregorian style!

Found over on Dynamics of Cats! I actually can't stand the original song, not because of the subject matter, I just don't like it. Not an R.E.M. fan but I do like some of thems's songs.

I did have something I wanted to write about but for the life of me I can't remember! I got the swine flu... or maybe the Dengue fever... OK, it's just a cold but I feel like crap. If I think of it later I'll post it.

I can't hear you this Sunday, my ears are bleeding!

This has been all over so I'll keep the chain of insanity going:

This is how I know there is no God. If he actually existed these people would have been smitted (smitetten?) when they were making this horrible, horrible video. It's not the lyrics, bad as Christian rock is, its the singing! I managed to get through the whole thing, but Jess had to stop after the first chorus. And before Steve get's all pissy about the Christian rock crack... I'm sorry they are almost universally bad, BUT I do like Love Thy Will Be Done by Martika, beautiful song.

More art this week as my first JLA issue ships and the cover to 57 will be released... I think.

It's Sunday, what do we want?!

w

Funny as hell. I wasn't going to do a Blasphemy this week as I was to busy looking for something to work on. So Jess found this. Via Dispatches from the Culture Wars.

One thing about this gay marriage things that keeps bugging me. The 'Right' keeps bringing up money and that they don't want to pay for gay divorce. But, don't the gay's have to pay for YOUR divorce? They pay taxes, they pay for your welfare babies too. Almost sounds like taxation without representation to me. You 'Right' folks are simply being pig headed and to me amoral and hypocritical. You say this is the land of the free but you don't mean it.

This Sunday will ROCK!

This weeks Sunday Blasphemy comes via ^^W^^, thanks again!

Let the crazy commence!

This actually reminds me of some Vodou
ceremonies I've seen. Interesting how that was later incorporated in to these religious ceremonies. This actually brings up an interesting point. Why do the super religious dislike change? They seem to think change is a bad thing, but they seem to forget that if you stagnate, you die.

Happy 4th for those in the States. And a big thanks to the Founding Fathers for getting the ball rolling, you know, the actual founders of the Nation… not the mythical religious zealots the right wingers and Tea Baggers (still LOVE the name!!!) have deluded themselves into thinking found the country.

Doctor Who Music Video

Lately I've gotten in watching Doctor Who with Jess. We started watching the Last group of TV movies featuring the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant. BBCAmerica ran a bunch January 1st so I've managed to see some of the episodes and since I'm a Catherine Tate fan it was all great fun. Last week they started the new season with a new Doctor, who is quite good as well. I saw this and thought it was... well, brilliant. It's a music montage of the Tenth Doctors run. with a bit of the Ninth and Eleventh Doctor tossed in for fun. Enjoy!

Insane Clown Posse Spoof

I'm guessing the actual group made a video that said some stupid shit and so SNL decided to use their ignorance for this fun video. I thought Insane Clown Posse was one of those Death Metally bands.. I guess I was wrong. Found via Pharyngula.

Edit: This is a slightly more complete video from hulu, just wait for it to load, it will give you a we can't load the add screen, just wait it will load the video after that!

More art tomorrow or later today, depends on my mood, which is bad because the weather guys were wrong again and it's going to rain soon.

Robot Unicorn Attack Song!

I saw a commercial for a new online game on Cartoon Network call Robot Unicorn Attack. I recognized the song and it's been stuck in my head for 5 days. Now you to can live a part of my life! I'm not a big Erasure fan but I've always kind of liked this song and the video is trippy)
